Some cats with food allergies try proteins they are very unlikely to have eaten before. More unusual “exotic” proteins such as kangaroo, horse or insects may be considered.
These foods are less widely available in the UK than rabbit or venison diets, but they can be useful for cats that have already reacted to more common proteins. Many exotic protein foods are also limited ingredient or single protein recipes, making them suitable for elimination diets.
