Turkey is sometimes used as an alternative protein for cats with food sensitivities, particularly in limited ingredient or grain-free foods. Some cats tolerate turkey very well, especially if they need to avoid beef or chicken-based diets.
However, turkey is still a poultry protein, and some cats that react to chicken may also react to turkey or duck. For cats with suspected poultry allergies, it may be safer to try a completely different protein such as rabbit, venison or kangaroo.
